Hi,

 

Is there a way to use PowerBI APIs to connect a report to a SQL datasource?

I havn't seen any Power BI APIs can connect to SQL DB. Currently, the way to connect to data source is via OOTB property.

You can connect to a SQL datasource while creating a dataset. There is no direct relationship between a datasource and a report.
