Hi all,
I have a matrix showing what day employees are assigned to work. I found that this was only showing dates where data existed, so, in order to see weekends, bank holidays etc, I checked the "Show items with no data" option (on the date column), and now it shows all dates. Great. except one thing...
Now my date-slicer has stopped working. It doesn't matter if I set it to this year, last year, next 2 weeks etc, the matrix will only show the first 3 months from the first record in my data table (see below) I can't move it at all. The slicer works as normal if i turn off "Show items with no data", so maybe I'm not understanding it correctly. Is this normal behaviour?
Is there a way to achieve what I want? That is: to show all dates, whether there's data or not, but only within a range specified on a slicer?
Many thanks 🙂
AS
Thanks but that didn't help. I've attached a stripped back example to demonstrate the problem.
I think you have succesfully replicated the issue, because you can see in your example the dates of 5th and 7th January, but the 6th is missing. If you just extend the date range to a couple of months you will see that the 'show items with no data' option will show you the 6th, but takes away the slicer's ability to function correctly.
(hopefully this link works!) -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a8V9NbKyfZmal8uOJz8RlvJFYXpFy9LQ/view?usp=sharing
Any ideas? TIA 🙂
*If you move the date range, it will exclude data but the columns remain unchanged. PBI Desktop Version: 2.124.2028.0 64-bit
Hi @AlexS2023 ,
Thanks for reaching out to us with your problem. Base on your description, it seems that the slicer will not work when you apply the feature "Show items with no data". I can't reproduce your problem, please find details in below screenshot.
And for the blank values, you can refer the solutions in the following threads and check if they can be used as workaround.
1.+0
Solved: Matrix Visual - Show Blank Values as Zero - Microsoft Fabric Community
Measure 7 = SUM(marix[amoaunt])+0
2. Create a separated dimension table
Solved: Display zero instead of blank in matrix - Microsoft Fabric Community
Solved: Show items with no data - not working when slicers... - Microsoft Fabric Community
In order to get a better understanding on your problem and give you a suitable solution, could you please provide some raw data in your tables (exclude sensitive data) with Text format and your visual settings. It would be helpful to find out the solution. You can refer the following link to share the required info:

And It is better if you can share a simplified pbix file. You can refer the following link to upload the file to the community. Thank you.
