"Model Object names must be non-empty" error on all queries when refresh in desktop

I am getting the above error message for all of my queries in Power Bi Desktop. Following previous posts I have worked back step by step deleting all and then re-doing one at a time on one of the queries ensuring all steps are working. When I close and apply in the Power Query Editor the query works fine and updates my data but then if I refresh within the desktop I get the error for all four queries again and cannot update further.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks

Karen

Hi @KarenMcP

If you've used PBI dekstop to connect to data source, and changed columns in data source, then you try to refresh in powerbi it will not work.

in this scenario, you'd better import raw data source as it is, and make changes in powerbi via query editor.

Following previous posts I have worked back step by step deleting all and then re-doing one at a time on one of the queries ensuring all steps are working.

Which steps do you apply?

for example:

in "edit queries", remove the last few changes you made (using the "x" by the applied steps), to the last known good step.

Then made one change at a time closing and applying each time.

Is my assumption the same as your steps?

What exactly you have applied in query editor?

Best Regards

Maggie
