problem accessing excel file on one drive

hello:

I am a new student,

I have microsoft 365 business standard, my pc has windows 10.

the problem is when I go to one drive thru 365, I see the excel file I uploaded there, I open it in excel copy the location from address bar, (it does not have web=1 at the end)

when i go to power bi desktop, get data button, go to web option, paste the location. I get this error

"we could not authenticate with the credentials provided. please try again."

any help is appreciated, (I also have a laptop with windows 11 the issue is the same.)

Thank You

Hi @keithm ,

Here are my steps you can follow as a solution:

1.Obtain the Correct Link from OneDrive:

  • Navigate to your OneDrive for work or school location using a browser. Select the ellipses (...) to open the More menu, then select Details.
  • In the More details pane that appears, select the copy icon next to Path.

2.Use the Copied Link in Power BI Desktop:

  • In Power BI Desktop, select Get data > Web.
  • Paste the copied link into the From Web dialog box.

3.Authentication:

  • If prompted for credentials, choose Organizational Account. This is crucial for Microsoft 365 or OneDrive for work or school sites.
  • After entering your credentials, you should be able to access the Excel file.
