Are there any templates for power bi desktop?

Yes, there are Excel workbooks created by Microsoft which contains sample content. You can download these sample files, then import Excel workbooks to Power BI desktop. See:

I am not aware of any PBI Desktop samples like you would find for the Service here.
But, if you are working with custom visuals, they all have samples that are in the .pbix file form and can be opened in PBI Desktop.
