how can I edit a pbix file shared by a friend? is there an option that can let individuals transform data in the power query editor that has been shared as a pbix?

so after receiving the excel sheet and having it on your desktop, you go to power bi and then go to darasource settings and then edit permission and then select the path of the excel sheet.

to be able to edit in transform data, you should connect to the datasource that this report is built from.

If a pbix file is shared with you (not in service but as a desktop file) and you have the access to the underlying data the you should be able to comfortably edit it.
If something else, pls. make your question to be more specific to the isue you are facing
so, someone shares the pbix file as well as the underlying datasource, if I want to transform the file further how do i connect the two,let us say it is an excel file
