open from report server

Hi All,

 

I was trying to create a Power BI Reportusing Power BI Desktop. When I launched the Power BI dekstop, I could see an option the lowermost left corner to 'Open from Report Server'. But, when I clicked on it and tried to open the Datasources or the datasets, I just see a blank. Can someone please help me understand what is the issue? Is it a product limitation or some other error?

    Hi pragyamishra,

     

    I guess you installed the Power BI Desktop RS version that is optimized for Report Server. The blank means you didn't have such connections before. Did you mean to do it? If not, I would suggest you install the general version of Desktop here.

      Hi Dale,

       

      Yes, I installed the power BI Desktop version optimised for the Power BI Report Server as we have everything on-premise and not using the cloud services at all. I have been using this since start but just started exploring this feature lately.

      Does that mean, I cannot open a datasource or dataset from the report server to be able to use it in Power BI Desktop reports?

      Please advise.
