only show data up to single date slicer but not beyond

hi everyone, I'm relatively new to power BI and have a query that I hope you can help with.

I have a page with a single date slicer [fiscal period]. This slicer cannot be changed due to user requirements for the report. On this page I have a graph which shows [fiscal period] x axis and [monthly sales] Y axis. I have 12 months of available data for the year.

I would like the graph to show data up to but not beyond the fiscal period selected in the slicer. e.g. If month 5 slected in the slicer the graph would show monthly sales for each month 1-5. If I disconnect the graph from the slicer it shows 12 months of data

Is there a way of solving this using DAX or disconnected tables? thanks in advance!
