new calculcation button - color format

Hello,

This may be an easy one, but I've recently discovered, and love, the new calculcation button where I can do the calculations in the table visuals themselves, but I noticed that when I need to do a conditional format on the color (value is + then green, value is -, then red, etc.) conditional formatting asks for an actual field, and since I created the calc in the visual, there is no field.  Has anyone run into this?

Hi @ianallen13D ,

Visual calculations are currently in preview, and during the preview period, you should be aware of the following considerations and limitations:
• You cannot use the See records drillthrough feature with visuals that use visual calculations or hidden fields.
You cannot apply conditional formatting to visual calculations.
• You cannot set data categories in visual calculations.
• You cannot change the aggregation of visual calculations.
• You cannot change the sort order of visual calculations.

More details can be found in the document:
Using visual calculations in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

So this is a known limitation and not an unexpected behavior. You can try to write conditional formatting using calculated columns or measures.

If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

@ianallen13D Yeah, it's still in Preview so not everything works very well.
