Since a couple of days, I have the problem that I can't edit queries from the applied steps, Query Settings section.
missing option to edit query in applied steps (the gear icon)
Does anyone know why this happens?

Hi @MiltonDouglas ,
The only reason individual steps would not show from handwritten code is that you are not actually writing the parts of your query as valid individual steps. You've either successfully written a single step with multiple functioning parts, or you've written nonfunctional code. To give any detailed help beyond that would require actually seeing the query code in question.

@MiltonDouglas , Gear icon is only appear when it will open a popup ( Like formula window)
I think the question (and mine as well) is why that gear icon relating to a popup do appear next to so query steps and not next to others,
