mapping data privacy
HighNoon what do you mean by "how Bing will use data" ? I am not aware of any such way that power bi will send your data to bing search engine or it will appear there. Do you mean power bi service instead ? which is where you publish your data from power bi desktop.

ankitpatiraHighNoon This is a really good question.. In order for maps to work in the Desktop you need an internet connection. So, is Bing just pulling back the location info and the amounts/sensitive info etc is just in the Desktop?

That is exactly my concern. If I can prove a division between the mapping data and the sensitive data, where only the former is shared with Bing, the I can push for adoption. Otherwise, there is no way I can make this happen. And I really want it to happen.

HighNoon I've asked this in a product group forum, I'll update this thread if I get a response.

Anonymous thanks for that.
HighNoon I am only guessing here but I think depending on the fields that you drop from your table into Map visual will depend on what data is passed to Bing. For example if you've only dropped lat long fields only that will be passed to Bing but if you've used other fields from your table like location address then those will be passed as well. As said before I am only guessing here. Check out this link to see if it provides any more information.

Hi. I checked the link. Helpful, but it did not directly addressed the question. The division you suggest, and which I hope for, seems reasonable. What I am hoping for is concrete documentation that I can point to. Or at least a concrete explanation.
