mapping data privacy

Hello,

I am trying to steer my company away from Tableau, and Desktop would be an ideal wedge to drive.  However, we deal with sensitive information and data security is paramount.  For Desktop, my concern lies in how the mapping works.  I need documentation, if available, on how Bing will use the data, what data is sent upstream to Bing, and whether this data is retained and shared.  Any help with this, or a shove in the right direction is appreciated.

HighNoon what do you mean by "how Bing will use data" ? I am not aware of any such way that power bi will send your data to bing search engine or it will appear there. Do you mean power bi service instead ? which is where you publish your data from power bi desktop.

ankitpatiraHighNoon This is a really good question.. In order for maps to work in the Desktop you need an internet connection. So, is Bing just pulling back the location info and the amounts/sensitive info etc is just in the Desktop?

That is exactly my concern.  If I can prove a division between the mapping data and the sensitive data, where only the former is shared with Bing, the I can push for adoption.  Otherwise, there is no way I can make this happen.  And I really want it to happen.
