make an external API call when events are added to a SharePoint calendar

Afternoon,

Is it possible to make an external API call when adding events to a SharePoint calendar?  I have a Sharepoint calendar where we add patching windows for customers.  I want to make an API call to our monitoring system to place customer devices into maintenance so that alarms aren't generated during the maintenance window.

But not clear its relation with sharepoint calendar
