line chart with two dimensions

Hello Community,

I am somewhat new to Power BI and would like to create a line chart which contains two dimensions.

The end result should like the image below:

But I end up with a chart that does not connect the dots:

If someone could provide some insight into either if this is possible within Power BI or a way to show this with the lines connected, I would be very greatful.

Best Regards,

Lee

Would need to see some sample/example data on this along with what columns you have in which fields of your line chart. Probably a solution, but tough to say on the information provided. It looks like you have something in your Legend that is making the line chart thing that these are all individual data series. Also, you might find a custom visual that will connect the dots.

      Hello smoupre,

Unfortunately I am not able to share this data, but this consists of 3 fields, the first is the dimension shown on the x axis, the second which is put into the legend section contains the second dimension and third is the value which all work.

I assume this is due to the relationship as all fields are within the same table.

If this is not the case, what may be the custom visualisations you were suggesting?

      Best Regards,

      Lee

Can you share mock data? Copy a table and paste into Excel, use Find and Replace to obfuscate and then paste the data here. Or just type out a few sample rows that simulate the data you have. Otherwise it is very difficult to recreate your scenario.

In terms of custom visuals, you have at your disposal R visuals as well as the store accessed from the ellipses in the visuals area. Something like the Force Directed Graph might work, there are over a hundred of them, you'll just have to look and try some.
