license for apps
do i need pro license to access apps in power bi?
Hey powerbiexpert22 ,
if the workspace that is "hosting" the items used in the app is backed by
- Premium Per Capacity (P or F capacities), consumers of the app only need the Power BI Free license assigned
- Premium Per User, consumers of the app have to have the Premium Per User license assigned
- Pro licensing, consumers of the app have to have a Power BI Pro icense assigned
Hopefully, this provides what you are looking for
Regards,
Tom
Hi powerbiexpert22, Hope you are doing good!
Viewing and opening an app requires certain permissions. The recipient must have a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license, or the app must be shared with the recipient in a type of cloud storage called Premium capacity.

Hi powerbiexpert22 - Yes, Power BI Pro license is required to access and interact with Power BI apps.to access apps created and shared by others, a Power BI Pro license is usually needed. If the app is shared with a user who does not have a Pro license, they will be prompted to upgrade to Power BI Pro to view the content.
