import data fast

I need to import 15 million row from Oracle to Power BI Desktop.

 Currently it can import 2500 rows per second so it takes over an hour to import all the rows.

What can I do to make this importing process faster ?

Hi @ForgotID ,

You can try the following:

Please try to remove the useless columns, filter data, etc. These actions could reduce the size of the dataset and improve the performance of import data.

You could also use DirectQuery instead of Import. DirectQuery will not import any data to desktop, which could improve the performance of data import.

I saw a related discussion here that you can refer to:

Thank you so much for the insightful response.  I fully agree with what you said but my problem is importing data from the oracle to the Power Bi itself.  Please correct me if I am worng that for the direct query reports we need a dataset to connect. If I was using MS sql then I could have used SSMS to create a dataset and deploy it to Power BI but can I do this in the Oracle environment ?

Would using incremental refresh be an option for you?
