how to switch report from one dataflow to another dataflow in different workspace

Hello,

I have a redshift database in a private zone so can't access it directly from Power BI but only through the data gateway.

So, I created a dataflow "DEV_DF" in the workpsace "DEV_WS" to pull data from redshift and then a Report based on this data flow.

Then after confirming this report with the customer, I want to move the Report to "PROD_WS" workspace and switch the Report to use another dataflow "PROD_DF" wich is the same as "DEV_DF" with the only difference  being that it uses different connection settings (another database on the same server in the same gateway or another data gateway and another server). I know how to move a report to another workspace (by making a copy and saving it to another workspace) but I coudn't find a way to change the dataflow in Report. I see there's a Source button in PowerQuery editor under  "Applied Steps" of the PowerBI Desktop but it doesn't give any dataflow selection options.

thanks for your response, but unfortunately this article is not helpful in my situation, it mentions there that database name can be changed in Source option under Applied Steps of Query Settings, but as I mentioned earlier, in my case, I don't have anything to change there (see the screenshot above) - I think this is because I don't use SQL Server database connection as a source but a redshift gateway connection

  • The only way to change connection I could find is to change it in dataflow settings in PowerBI web version (Dataflow->Actions-Edit Table->Query Settings-Applied Steps-Source). But it's not flexible from development perspective, because if we need to modify report after "moving to prod" and check it against DEV data by changing connection string in dataflow again to DEV then business users won't be able to use Report against Prod data until we modify dataflow again and set Prod credentials.
