Hi, I have a 10-year old daughter. I want to create a learning tutorial to help her understand basic maths concepts and do funny exercises.
I find a Power BI demo for kids, which inspires me. However, I would like to check if there are other softwares which work better than Power BI. A problem with PB is users can not write data into the report. Does anyone know any free or cheap software which might work better for children education purpose?

Thanks.
1. I only used navigation button in my report, unlike bookmarks, it's quite easy to create.
2. Back in March or Feb, Microsoft has demoed the write function in Power BI, basically, users can write into a table in Fabric, which then load back in Power BI. It looks this function is released yet.
3. Among the custom visuals, there is one visual called "Wewrite Table", but one needs to pay for it and it only works in Table visuals.
Hi @Jeanxyz ,
Thats very interesting board you have prepared in Power BI. But Power BI is an output tool usually meant for consuming data and sharing insights. Although this can aslo be used to navigate to different pages and make it interactive using buttons/bookmarks functionality as you have correctly demonstrated in your report.
However, it is not input friendly. Therefore you might not get write option here.
Thank You
Shruti

Thank you @Ritaf1983 for your input
Hi @Jeanxyz
Power BI is mainly an output tool designed for quantitative data visualization, not for creating interactive learning modules.
For learning boards or tutorials, tools like PowerPoint, or dedicated e-learning platforms (e.g., Genially, H5P, Adobe Captivate) are usually a better fit, since they allow animations, interactive exercises, and direct input from the learner.
If you still want to experiment with Power BI, it can work for very simple exercises, such as multiple-choice or closed questions where the learner selects the right answer and sees feedback. However, it is not designed for free data entry or more flexible interactivity.

Thanks. I went through Genially, Adobe Captivate quickly, although they look attractive, it doesn't have the kind of navigation function I look for, also I am looking for a tool super easy to create. To give some ideas, I made a small demo in Power BI. The thing I miss in Power BI is the write function.
For interactive learning boards better than Power BI, try these free or low-cost tools:
- Microsoft Whiteboard for drawing and writing exercises
- Math Whiteboard for math-specific interactive tools
- Prodigy Math Game for fun, curriculum-aligned practice
