forecasting preview premise

I am curious. Can anyone explain to me the algorithem that the forecasting feature is based on? I have not found that in the documentation.  I know that as soon as I add that to a report, someone will ask.

Please refer to this link for the forecasting in Powerview and I think it is same in the PowerBI as well.
