find dataset name

Hello,
I would like to find the dataset used in a power bi report.
What I do is as follows:
1- open power bi report
2- edit queries menu
3- only available option is Data source settings
4- A window comes up asking: Select a dataset to create a report
- In this window there is a list of datasets

p.s. If I know the dataset name, then from there I know how to find the source.
It's just that from the report, i do not know how to find out which dataset the power bi report is using.

You can also just look down at the very bottom of the Power BI Desktop window, and in the bottom right it will say "Connected live to the Power BI dataset..." (and give its name).

We're assuming you are opening the report from Power BI Desktop. Let us know if you can see this window in Power BI desktop:

Hi @Anonymous 

In Query Editor Select any query in the Query Pane to your left and look for Advanced Editor in the Home Ribon, this will  give you the M syntax for this Query including the source of it.

I think you are referring to do doing this from the dataset window.

As mentioned earlier, in desktop report I do not get the options you mentioned i.e. query editor...

To confirm, I would like to find out which dataset the desktop report is using

Hi @Anonymous 

Is this report live connected to Dataset in Power Bi Service?

If so you can publish it to the service and click on View Related.

I don't think that there is any thing in the PBI Desktop that will provide you with this info.
