    Hi Dayni,

How about using this connection string “provider=EPMMDX.4;data source=localhost;initial catalog=EPM” and entering SQL statement in your scenario to connect to the source? If the error still occurs, please go to File -> Options and settings -> Options -> Diagnostics and click "enable tracing", then connect to OLEDB data source and check the detailed logs in the traces folder. Also please help to post the detailed logs here.

Besides, is there any possibility that you create ODBC connection for your data source and then connect to ODBC source in Power BI Dekstop?

    Thanks,
    Lydia Zhang

Hi Lydia Zhang thanks for answering

I have tried it in several ways including the one you mention. In addition to testing with a sql query inside. The error continues.

It does not help me to use odbc, because this provider (EPMMDX.4) allows me to explore the data as a cube. The provider works correctly in excel.

I did what you recommend and the traces show the following:

      DataMashup.Trace Error: 24579 : {"Start":"2017-03-10T14:03:44.1806450Z","Action":"SimpleDocumentEvaluator/GetResult","HostProcessId":"7764","Exception":"Exception:\r\nExceptionType: System.AccessViolationException, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089\r\nMessage: Attempted to read or write protected memory.
