dot plot coloured by category

Hi All

Is there a way to create a dot plot coloured by category? I have looked through all the custom vis and there appears to be nothing that does this which I find odd. Basically i have a stacked bar chart that measures # of events by week and is coloured by category of event. It does not look visually very good as you need labels to see the values properly - a dot plot would be perfect as the user can see exactly how many dots and then what colour. I basically want to portray the same info in the screenimage.pngshot on a dot plot. Any ideas?

Hi @hugus ,

I'm not certain whether this custom visual 'Dot Plot by OKViz' could meet your requirement:

The disadvantage of this visual is that it seems not to show the same value under the same column

@v-yingjl , @TomMartens  thanks for your response

close but not exactly what Im after - i want the number of dots to represent the size of the bar segment - i have (very badly) mocked this up and the screenshot is here - do you think this is achievable? basically - the number of dots will never really exceed 6 - and i want someone standing at the back of the room to be able to see that "for week 20-13 there were 4 events in the P category, # events in the Al category and 4 in the Fe category"....thank you!image.png

Hi @hugus ,

Which custonm visual I can found currently to meet part of your requirement is 'Dot Plot 2.0.1'. dot plot2.png

However, it seems that it has no field to put category column and cound not sort by column so I'm not certain it is favorable.

Hey @hugus ,

not sure if this is what you are looking for:

It's the default Scatter chart, as this chart type also allows a categorical x-axis.

Tom
