develop BI report\dashboard

hi,

i understand the difference between dashboard\report

but don't really understand the difference bertween PBI desktop and Service

from where i start? first desktop, then service?

thanks

  • Definitely first desktop, then service. Desktop is the authoring tool. It can also be a consumption tool if you want to distribute Power BI workbooks. You publish to the service to make the workbooks easier to share and consume, including solving issues like large file sizes, mobile access, many distributed users access and many more things.

There is a limit to the data modelling you can do in the service. You can create a report (like building a pivot table in Excel) but you can't really do much data modelling.
