creating caluculated column without drill down

Here I want to show segment in orders table and quarter from dim date like this in the image but without drill down i.e not making hierarachy in segment and quarter columns with a slicer selection year wise from dim date

  • Hello Prag28

    try this

    Ensure Relationship
    Create relationship
    DimDate[Date] → Orders[Order Date]

    This lets Year/Quarter filter Orders.
    No Hierarchy Needed
    Do NOT create hierarchy.

Use Segment and Quarter as separate fields.
    (Optional) Calculated Column

If Quarter is only in DimDate
    Order Quarter = RELATED(DimDate[Quarter])

    Build Visual
    Use Table/Matrix
    Add Segment (Orders)
    Add Quarter (DimDate or Orders)
    Add your measure

  • Hi Prag28,

Thank you ryan_mayu and pankajnamekar25 for your answer to the query.

Along with that, ensure that the Year from the Date dimension is included in a slicer so filtering occurs by year without needing a hierarchy. Because there’s an active relationship between the Date and Orders tables, choosing a year will automatically filter both Segment and Quarter values. Also, make sure drill-down and drill-up options are disabled in the table or matrix visual, so fields appear as flat columns rather than a hierarchy. If you’re using a matrix visual, add Segment and Quarter directly to the Rows section instead of nesting them, which keeps them side by side. If a direct relationship isn’t possible, you can use a DAX method like TREATAS() to apply date filters and pass the Year or Quarter selection from the Date table to the Orders data without creating a hierarchy.

    Thank you.
