creating a filter with no relationship

I am comparing two categories, Commitment  and actual spend. . Commitment identifies the amount of money the company is willing to spend on equipment. Actual spend identifies the amount that was actually spent on that equipment.

Both Commitment and actual spend can be tracked by purchase order number . Commitment data includes all Purchase orders and actual spend only includes purchase orders that were approved. Commitment data will also contain purchase orders that are listed multiple times. I would like to create a slicer that that allows me to toggle between total actual spend amount and total commitment amount but actual spend and commitment are two different tables and I dont know how to manipulate the data to allow me use them as filters. Anyone have a suggestion

             Commitment
Date      Purcahse        OrderAmount
1-Jan1100
1-Jan1250
1-Jan2110
2-Jan210
3-Jan380
3-Jan421
3-Jan520
4-Jan6100
5-Jan7100

           Actual Spend
Date      Purchase       Orderamount
4-Jan1100
5-Jan3240
6-Jan4110
7-Jan510
8-Jan720

@dw700d , Create a common date table. If the purchase is dimension value. Have a common dimension with that and join these two tables and you can analyze that

refer: https://radacad.com/power-bi-basics-of-modeling-star-schema-and-how-to-build-it

You can now analyze them together

Or can have slicer : https://radacad.com/change-the-column-or-measure-value-in-a-power-bi-visual-by-selection-of-the-slic...

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :

Have a look at the TREATAS() function. It allows you to apply filters across unrelated tables.

@lbendlin  I meant to say I would like to create a SLICER that that allows me to toggle between total actual spend amount and total commitment amount but actual spend and commitment are two different tables and I dont know how to manipulate the data to allow me use them as filters. Not sure if that changes your recomendation

It doesn't matter what you use for filtering. Can be a slicer, a visual level filter, page level, etc.
