controlling filter propagation between visuals

Hi,

I am new to Power BI.  I've created a a matrix visual and a table visual on the same report page.  I have noticed that by default, the filtering of these visuals is related.  When I click on the row in the matrix visual, the table visual is filtered accordingly.  Similarly, when I click on an item on the Table visual, the Matrix is filtered accordingly.

I like how the filter is propagated from the Matrix to the Table, but I'd rather it not propagate the other way around.  Is there a way I can make the filter propagate only from Matrix to Table but not from Table to Matrix?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Yes - you can do this by changing the visual interaction settings.

    Documentation here.

    The steps are:

    1. Select the Table visual
    2. Format (on ribbon) > Edit interactions
    3. With the Table visual still selected, you will see icons just above or below the matrix on the right (depending on position).
    4. Select the "no impact" icon.

Are you able to get this working?
