combine azure AS model and on-prem AS model

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to combine data (live/DQ)  from Azure AS tabular model and on-prem AS tabular model in the pbix.

I see articles for composite data models allowing live connect to Azure AS ,SQL db ,Azure db ,Excel files etc but when i tried to connect live to Azure AS model and on-prem model,i see only one of them connected.

Hi  @Anonymous ,

You can't explore live data and connect to another type of data source in the same file.

As long as one of your data sources is in Live Connection mode, you cannot connect to another data source. If you want to combine two data sources, you can use Import connection mode.

Here are some limitations of the composite model:

@Anonymous dumb question, but by "on-prem AS tabular model" do you mean SQL Server Analysis Services?

If so, that is not currently supported under the "composite model" (aka DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Azure Analysis Services)

See below from the documentation:

Thanks a lot.

By on premise I meant the SQL server AS.I did read that doc but I was not clear as to if they meant we can't combine SSAS and Azure DQ in one pbix
