column shifted when import data to PowerBI

Hello,

I have downloaded a csv file and import to PowerBI. But why the column shifted and not show the Contract No?

Hi @pang22 ,

This column offset problem can usually be caused by several reasons:
CSV file format issues: CSV files with inconsistent delimiters or containing extra commas or other symbols can cause columns to be misaligned on import.Power Query provides a number of setup options that can help resolve this issue
Changing the default Apply all line breaks to Ignore quoted line breaks will ensure that Power Query ignores line breaks within double quotes and treats them as part of the same line without causing the data to be misplaced.

Special characters or line breaks in data: If some data fields contain special characters such as line breaks, commas, or quotes that are not properly escaped, Power BI may parse the data incorrectly when importing.
You can check the CSV file if its delimiters are correct, especially if there are extra commas or tabs.
I've also found some documentation on this that has been resolved for you I hope this helps!

Hello

It seems as though the CSV file format may be problematic. Examine the file for any excess or missing semicolons, commas, or other delimiters that might have contributed to the columns shifting during import. To verify that the data is correctly aligned, particularly around the "Contract No" column, you can try opening the CSV in Excel or a text editor. Additionally, confirm that Power BI is importing the file with the appropriate delimiter.

Hi @pang22 ,

If you want to use the web to fetch data, then we need a web link to store the CSV file, then Power BI will automatically detect the file format and provide appropriate options, such as “Ignore quoted line breaks” and other data handling options.

I hope this can only help you!

@pang22 ,

The csv file you show is filtered and shows row nr 323 first.

Isn't it possible that power bi correctly imports the file (looking at the columns they appear correct), but that conract No B15WB1635 RM BY BOAT/FG BY SEA is actually in your csv file (but you simply did not notice it was in the csv file already)?
