check if a value is NOT in another table

This scenario is hard for me to describe, I hope i'm making it clear. I have 2 tables: UNITS and JOB_UNITS. The units are our cranes we rent out on contruction jobs and the JOB_UNITS are the records ...

Can you provide a sample of the Units table?

I want to find all the units that are available, meaning, NOT on jobs during the current time window.

That will be hard to visualize as they may flip their status multiple times during that time window.

 

Might be better to use a graphical solution

    Thank you.  How are you expecting the "time window" selection to work in the UI ?

      Actually when I looked closer at the data, I don't think a time window has an affect on what I am trying to visualize. As long as a line in the Job_Units table has a JobUnitStatus of 'O' meaning 'On Job', then that UnitCode is not available. A UnitCode could exist multiple times for different jobs but that line would always get updated to ('F' finished, 'C' Complete, 'X' transfer) when the job is over.  I want to see all available units in a visual so either the UnitCode doesn't exist in the Job_Units table (it's never been on a job), or every line that the UnitCode exists on teh Job_Units table is NOT 'O'

      Below is our ERP and all the JobUnitStatus in the drop down. Here you can see BT35-010 is 'On Job' so it's not available. I would like to see all units not 'On Job' meaning they are available
