Hello,
I want to change the query for example the field data type,
but when refreshed the power bi keep loading the data source from the beginning and it takes long enough time,
so i want the power bi to stop connecting with the data source (the source data is still the same content) and only focus with the transformation query,
how to do it,
thank you

Hi @simp,
As per my knowledge, any change in query editors will lead to the modification of Power Query, so, it will run the query and connect to data source again to reload data. It is not available to corrupt the data retrieval process, only to focus on the transformation query.
If you don't want to reload data again and again each time you refresh the data, you can try to select "Directquery" rather than "Import" when connect to data source. However, DirectQuery mode only applies to SQL Server Data Source.
Besides, if possible, I would suggest you first connsider to make changes (for example, change field data type) in view mode rather than in query editor, because this will not cause the Power BI to connect to data source again.
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
