census data world map

I have some census data at the SA2 level, that indicates how many people where born in 50 other countries (columns) by name for each SA2 region (rows). I would like to show a world map of where people were born, but keeping it linked to the SA2 regions, so when i select a specific SA2 region, the world map of birthplaces updates accordingly.

I hope i've explained what i am looking for. Is there a way to accomplish this?

I can't attach any sample files, but the files I'm using can be downloaded from here

https://datapacks.censusdata.abs.gov.au/datapacks/

Im using the SA zip file at the bottom of the page.

tables G09F,G,H provide the birthplace countries (im only interested in totals {not concerned with gender})

2016Census_geog_desc_1st_2nd_3rd_release will contain the links to the SA2 regions.

I'm not going to download and chase up the tables but the gist of it seems to be that you want to select a place/area from a slicer (in South Australia?) and show the birthplaces on a map.  If there is a common field (ID or placename or something) between tables hopefully you can use the SA regions table as a dimension table (so get a relationship between the common fields) so that you can filter the Fact table (the birth areas table).  Create a Count or Sum measure which will be placed on the Map visual.

Maybe you can post a very small example of the tables for more assistance.
