can drillthrough in power bi don't work formatted measure with selected value disconnected slicer?

Drillthrough in Power BI only works on columns/fields, not on the output of a measure.A measure using SELECTEDVALUE from a disconnected slicer only returns a number/text but it is not a column filter. In a table, drillthrough works because the column is there to pass the filter. In a card, only the measure is shown  no column filter so drillthrough does not work.

Is Drillthrough can’t directly use a formatted measure (Dynamic) from a disconnected slicer, because measures don’t create filter context — only fields do. ? If it not means please reply me . I also use measure format by Dynamic option .

Thank you for your kind attention . I worked around this by adding the dimension in the category in a card visual and now it filters correctly

Hi @Seema_24 , Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

@Greg_Deckler  is correct, measures themselves can be used for drillthrough, the limitation comes from the visual. Card visuals don’t support right-click drillthrough. The delay you noticed when trying to force a field into a Card is expected behavior and unfortunately there isn’t a way to reduce it.

For a smoother experience, the best options are either to use a Table or Matrix visual styled to look like a Card (by adding only the measure you want to display and then turning off column headers, row headers, gridlines, borders and totals in the format pane) or to add a Drillthrough button, which provides direct navigation.

Thank you Greg for your continuous contributions to the community.

@Greg_Deckler  is correct. It works when using drillthrough in a card without a formatted measure through the dynamic option. But when using a formatted measure, the drillthrough page does not get filtered. I worked around this by adding the dimension in the category in card visual , and now it filters correctly. Thank you for your reply

Drillthrough doesn’t work on measures (even formatted/dynamic ones from a disconnected slicer), only on fields/columns because measures don’t carry filter context.

Workarounds:

Add the slicer column itself to drillthrough fields.

Show that column in a table with your measure, then drillthrough works.

Or use buttons/navigation instead of drillthrough for card/measures.

Thank you Shahid ! I also try the adding the field in category  in new card visual . It's work but drillthrough option will be available after 4 to 5 times click a card . It's take more time to show the drill through option . Ca you say any way to reduce the time other . I will also try the another you given solutions .

Hi Shahid, the drillthrough is not available at first, but after clicking 5 to 6 times it appears. However, in Power BI Service it works correctly when the card has a dimension column in the category.

@Seema_24 This is incorrect. Measures can be used as drillthrough all by themselves. To demonstrate this easily, create a new report and use an Enter data query to create a simple table, let's say the following:

ItemValue
One1
Two2
Three3
Four4

Now create the following measure:

Measure = 12

Now create a table visual and place just the measure into the table.

Next, on a new page, create another table visual and place both columns and the measure into the table. Drag the Measure into the drillthrough fields area. Go back to your first page, right-click the 12 and you can Drillthrough to the other page.

The issue you are running into is that the Card visual doesn't support drillthrough for no good reason.
