are bookmark and pages interchangeable ?

Hi

is bookmark and new page interchangeable ?

Under which circumestances do you prefer to add bookmark or add more pages?  i can see both as viable option.  i wonder if the is any limitation/advanatge or distavanges that i must bve aware of ?

in my case most bookmarks used to reset data (filter) or show / hide visuals. and some time more pages used to achive same result. im thinking to standardize and stick to either more pages or bookmark so have consistenct design and  configuraiotn across all reports.

Hi, @Anonymous

Bookmarks and report pages are not interchangeable. With bookmarks in Power BI Desktop, you may capture the currently configured view of a report page.

When you create a bookmark, the following elements are saved with the bookmark:

  • The current page
  • Filters
  • Slicers, including slicer type (for example, dropdown or list) and slicer state
  • Visual selection state (such as cross-highlight filters)
  • Sort order
  • Drill location
  • Visibility of an object (by using the Selection pane)
  • The focus or Spotlight modes of any visible object

A bookmark is created from a copy of a report page at a certain point in time. While it is unavailable to create a report page from a bookmark.

@Anonymous , Bookmark is a kind of a snapshot on the same page. Here we hide and show content.  Bookmarks can overload content on the same page. There are use cases where the only a bookmark can work. Like slicer reset and change the axis of visual. If you can use drill through in place of the bookmark, avoid that.

I would say if you're creating new visuals, then page is better, but if you're just filtering/unfiltering data bookmark is better. That's just my opinion though, I have no evidence for that. You could try the performance analyzer and see which one load faster.
