This can be achieved with native visuals to a certain extent. For instance, a line chart can be used with a constant value per month, and then markers can be conditionally formatted. Custom data labels can be used to show text below the circles and the line, while Plan, Actual, and Industry Benchmark can be represented using small multiples.

With a matrix using SVGs, the lines would end up broken because gridlines cannot be fully removed even when disabled, and each cell introduces a left padding when rendering images, which currently has no option to be hidden.

powerbiexpert22  The solution you have been given is to watch someone who is a little clueless on youtube, not a solution from a seasoned user. 

if you want to reflect a timeline and milestones for a project, which can show status's, rag rating, dates, duration, completion % etc...

To modernise the look use a secondary visual as a slicer to filter results. 

I also use a table on the same view so making a selection  = gives you the timeline and table with details.

To make it extra pop I also create a clickable link icon which leads to the items by open the sharepoint list either edit or add item pane. 

Jedi level is to then publish your dashboard to a sharpoint page for UX, or to add it to a team channel with some additional powerautomate or agent flow management. This'll get you promoted 😉
