YoY Calculation
Hello everyone. For comparing YTD sales amounts to prior YTD sales amounts within the same period, our measure sets the "end date" for prior year as the month and day of our most recent sales order date (minus a year).
This works fine, assuming sales come in daily. If a day goes by without any orders, then the calculation can't include the intended end date. Example: We had our final sales day of September on the 29th. There were no sales on the 30th, as it is a Saturday this year and our company was not taking orders over the weekend. As users were evaluating September, the YoY calculation was stuck comparing through the 29th and not the 30th, thus failing to account for the orders we took on Septemer 30th 2022.
I know it's a fringe issue, but it can cause confusion. Does anyone approach YoY a different way?
