Write a permanent value to a column record based on a slicer selection

Hi,  I have a data table with approx 10,000 records.  Through various date slicers, the user can view a subset of the data.  The user needs to be able to categorise certain records which can't be categorised by a formula.  In other words it needs a human to decide if a record is valid.  I have added an Index column through power query and a blank column (titled "notValid") to my data table and I would like the user to be able to select a range of Index numbers with a slicer and then have the "notValid" colum updated to 'TRUE' for those recdords.  I also need those notValid statuses to be non volitile becuase the Index number will change as the dataset is refreshed.  I guess the question boils down to "How can I write a value to a dataset using DAX?"

Thanks
