Windows search no longer finding .pbix files

Hi,

About 6 weeks ago my Windows search stopped finding any of my .pbix files when searching for the file name. 

Are you experiencing the same?

In the example below you see that when I search for "Power BI" it shows me recent .pbix files, but when I search for the name itself, nothing comes up. This is a new issue and not a problem when I search for file names of Excel or Power Point files.

I also have been experiencing this exact phenomenon. I switched from windows 10 to 11 and noticed the issue. Very annoying.

Thank you. I've been searching for a solution as well. I'm on Windows 11 and about two months ago, I could no longer get PBIX results in search. I've got to open the folder and click the file to open. One day it worked and the next day it did not.

@Mr_Glister I have experienced exactly the same behavior, extremly annoying not being able to use search to open my PBIX files.

I know that I changed from Windows 10 to Windows 11 around that time as well but am not sure if that was exactly when it stopped working. Were you already on Windows 11 when you remember that it worked?

I don't remember unfortunately. 
BUT I JUST CHECKED NOW AND THE ISSUE DISAPPEARED!

You can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Open the Control Panel and search for Default Programs.
2. Go into Set Associations.
3. Set Microsoft Power Bi as the default program to open .pbix extension files.

If the issue persists, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Open File Explorer and click on the search window. It will open a search tool menu from the tool bar.
2. From the search tool menu, you can see advanced options. Click on Advanced options, then check every option is selected (file contents, zipped folders, syste....

I tried both but no change. 

Power BI was already set as the default program for .pbix and .pbip files.

And again, the search works fine when I search for file names of for example Excel or Power Point files.
