Why does the date slicer need so much whitespace?

If I try to make the box for the slicer any less tall than this the header starts to shrink, at the point where the slicer is small enough to only be the title and date boxes the header has hidden entirely:

Why!?? Who designed it like this??? Yes I can use the Title instead of Header, but I shouldn't have to, if I want to turn off the header there's literally a button just for that in the slicer settings.

There are 2 tips to minimize "white spaces" of the slicer :1. Use Title instead of header :

1. Use title instead of header

2. Minimize paddings
