Hello,
I change the connection of my reports from time to time.
However since yesterday when I try, the connection window (where you select the account) remains white and I do not have access to it (even via ALT + TAB).
I tried to reinstall Power bi or change my default browser but that does not change anything.
I am currently on Windows 11.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks in advance
It sounds like you are encountering an issue with the authentication window in Power BI where it remains blank when trying to select an account. This type of issue can happen due to various reasons such as browser settings, cookies/cache, or even the Windows system itself. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
### 1. **Clear Browser Cache and Cookies**
Since Power BI uses your default browser for authentication, clearing the browser’s cache and cookies may resolve the issue.
- Open your browser and clear its cache and cookies.
- Restart Power BI after doing this and try again.
### 2. **Try a Different Browser**
While you mentioned changing the default browser, make sure that your default browser is set to one that Power BI supports (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox). You can set the default browser by:
- Going to **Settings > Apps > Default Apps**.
- Setting a supported browser as the default.
After changing the default browser, restart Power BI.
### 3. **Ensure Browser Security Settings Allow Pop-Ups**
Ensure that your browser security settings allow pop-ups and cookies, as these are necessary for Power BI to authenticate. Here’s how to check it:
- In your browser, go to **Settings > Privacy and Security**.
- Make sure that "Block third-party cookies" and "Block pop-ups" are disabled for Power BI URLs.
### 4. **Run Power BI as Administrator**
Sometimes, running Power BI with administrator privileges can solve unexpected issues.
- Right-click on the Power BI icon and select **Run as administrator**.
- See if the authentication window works correctly.
### 5. **Try Signing Out of Power BI and Signing Back In**
- Sign out of Power BI desktop completely by going to **File > Options and Settings > Options** and selecting **Sign Out**.
- Then, try to sign back in and see if the issue persists.
### 6. **Disable VPN or Proxy**
If you're connected through a VPN or using a proxy, try disabling it and see if the authentication window works as expected. Sometimes VPNs or proxies can interfere with how Power BI handles authentication.
### 7. **Check for Windows and Power BI Updates**
Ensure that both your Windows 11 and Power BI are up-to-date:
- Go to **Windows Settings > Update & Security** and check for updates.
- Similarly, ensure you're running the latest version of Power BI by checking for updates in the Power BI app.
### 8. **Clear Power BI Cache**
Power BI itself stores some local data that might cause issues. You can try clearing the Power BI cache by deleting the following folder:
- Go to: `%AppData%\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\Cache`
- Delete the contents of the Cache folder and then restart Power BI.
### 9. **Reinstall Power BI with Clean Install**
If the above steps don’t work, try doing a clean reinstall of Power BI:
- Uninstall Power BI from **Control Panel > Programs and Features**.
- Delete the **Power BI Desktop** folder in `%LocalAppData%\Microsoft`.
- Download the latest version of Power BI from the Microsoft website and reinstall it.
### 10. **Use Power BI Web (As a Temporary Solution)**
While troubleshooting, you can try accessing Power BI through the web app by visiting [app.powerbi.com](https://app.powerbi.com) and continue working with your reports there as a temporary workaround.
Let me know if any of these steps resolve the issue or if further troubleshooting is needed.
It works. Thank you
Hi @Clement_lav ,
Please turn on the "Use my default web browser" feature and then attempt to sign in using the default browser.

Hello,
I had already tried this solution without success. (I also changed the default browser just in case)
Hi @Clement_lav ,
Could you kindly confirm if a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is enabled? If so, please consider disabling it and then try logging in again.
Best Regards,
Bof
No, there is no VPN, I am directly connected to the site
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Reinstall WebView2:
Uninstall WebView2 from your system.
Reinstall it using the official WebView2 installer.
Environment Variables:
Open Windows Settings > About > Advanced system settings and select Environment Variables.
Under User variables, add a new variable:
Variable name: WEBVIEW2_ADDITIONAL_BROWSER_ARGUMENTS
Variable value: --disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity
Restart Power BI Desktop and see if the issue is resolved

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately this was not enough to correct the problem.
Do you have any other idea?
I will suggest trying to reinstall PBI from the Microsoft Store or if you have done the same, then Try to download via exe. for now this the best I can think of

We had already tried the manipulation but without success.

Is this happening when you are opening a file or by simply clicking on the PBI Desktop icon?
