Which visual types are supported by Power BI Copilot?
Hi Community,
I’m using Power BI Copilot and noticed that I can create charts and narrative visuals easily, but I’m not able to create a Matrix visual through Copilot.
Could someone confirm:
- Which visual types are currently supported by Copilot?
- Is Matrix visual creation supported or planned for future updates?
- Is there an official list of limitations for Copilot in terms of visual creation?

Power BI Copilot currently supports creating basic visuals such as bar/column charts, line charts, pie/donut charts, cards, KPIs, tables, and narrative (text) visuals. Matrix visuals are not supported for creation via Copilot at this time and must be added manually. Microsoft has not published a complete, official list of supported/unsupported visuals, but Copilot today focuses on common, high-level visuals and summaries, with more complex or highly configurable visuals (like Matrix) not yet available and expected to be expanded gradually in future updates.

Currently Copilot supports most of the visuals, but I could tell which it does not support or support under limitations.

Decomposition tree
Some statistical visuals
Advanced visuals like waterfall, funnel chart.
