For version control I'm started using onedrive. So onedrive keeps track of all my PBIT files. I can use comments and I can revert back to a previous version if I'd like to.
However, if I come to the point that I'm doing only minor tweaks which could be report, data or filter related, how do I know which version is published in the service? As I only see the current version there without any notes.
I'd like to publish a version with a note like "minor data correction, see issue 12345" or something to relate back why we did an update of the dataset or report.
Is that even possible?
So to give an example:
I have a report called "employees". In my onedrive I see al changes (check-ins) I made.
Finally I decide to publish it and that report appears in the service.
A year later I decide to make a minor change. But in the meantime someone else was working on the project as well.
How do I know which version has been published?
Hi @dirkmuis ,
You can download pbix file and open it to find its version files:

Hi @v-shex-msft ,
I know that the .pbix file is actually a zip file which you can extract.
The part which is unclear to me is when the version will be changed.
I can't really see if it contains version 10 of the report I created or version 15.
Hi @dirkmuis ,
Unfortunately, I also not found other properties who stored detail version informations.
Maybe you can check report created date to ensure which version you used or create a variable table to stored version information.(report create date and power bi desktop release date)
