When measure locations are changed in Tabular Editor, allow PBI Desktop to find them

When moving measures in Tabular Editor from one display folder to another - the connected reports break. It seems to me that the reports should be looking for a static guid and not for names (or however it does find them). Even a "this measure changed locations, keep?" warning would be better than the time spent when a new folder need be added to a model.

Based on your description, reports or dashboards typically reference metrics by their location in the model, including their display folder, rather than identifying the metric by a static GUID or its location in the folder. If you change the display folder of a metric, then any report or dashboard that directly references that metric may not be able to find it correctly, resulting in a broken connection or display error.
Therefore, it is a good idea to document the original location and name of the metric before making changes in the form editor. This can be used as a reference to quickly revert changes if needed.

Hi Albert,

Somehow, I managed to put what was supposed to be an idea in the forums!  Thank you for your answer, I agree with it for now. I just think that Microsoft should be able to handle this in the GUI.
