When is DAX better in the front end compared to the back end when using a cube?

If I am using a cube as my data model and DAX has been written in the back end for calculating facts, where can DAX be used in the front end when it cannot be used in the back-end? Can anyone think of any examples?

Thanks!

@Anonymous ,

you can write measures but other than that you cannot make anything out of DAX while using cube as a source.

Thanks,

Arul
