What benefits does Microsoft Azure offer that make it classified as a Platform-as-a-Service?

At college, I attended a lecture that was mainly about cloud computing. Upon looking through the content, I noticed that the professor identified Microsoft Azure as a Platform-as-a-Service.

In Addition to that, I recently gave a presentation that also partly focused on Azure, and afterward was asked which of the three models (IaaS, SaaS, or PaaS) Azure would belong to.
I replied that it offers solutions for all three models and therefore, a categorization cannot be limited to just one of the models. My professor (a different one than before) said I was partly wrong, classifying it as PaaS with additional possibilities for IaaS and SaaS. Wikipedia also lists Microsoft Azure as an example for PaaS.

Question: Can anyone tell me why Azure is just sort of "labeled" as PaaS?

Just to clarify: The presentation I gave was some sort of oral exam with viewers, I did not have the guts to start a discussion with the prof evaluating me.

This thread will have as many opionions as responses, I'm predicting. But I think you got the right answer here:

Azure Virtual Machines and networks: Infrastructure

Azure SQL, Synapse, and Managed Instance: Platform

Dynamics CRM: Software

You would need to list EVERY componenet of the Azure ecosystem and classify each and every one, then see which classification predominates, if you wanted an authoritative answer.

But honestly, it's all in how you use it that determines what it is.
