Weird behaviour date field

Hi

 

I'm struggling with the following, 12 sep date in Data file (XLSX)

 

Is presented on the desktop correct like:

 

but on the App is shows lile

 

Both using the same datafile,  

 

All other data is correct represented.

So only the Sep dates are presented wrongly on the App side.

Anybody and idea?

    Hi Kees,

    It should not be like this. People are facing some issues with the latest release of Power BI Desktop. Can you try by installing earlier version?

    Hi this has something to do with the column format locale. On one instance it takes 09/12/2024 as MM/DD/YYYY and other DD/MM/YYYY. I would suggest you go to power query and adjust the following settings.

    Then publish it again and update the app. 

    This should solve it.

      the column is already defined as

      When I just publish it on my personal workplace it is okay,

      When I publish in the app space and update the App, is shows it as in my initial description.

       

      it feels like a App problem so weird that only the 

      2024 Dec 09 shows in the app that should be 2024 Sep 12

      2023 Aug 14 and 2025 Jul 15 are correct

      So ONLY for 2024 Sep 12 swich Month number to Day number and Day number to Month Number.....

        Thanks for the reply from gaurav-lakhotia and zenisekd .

         

        Power BI reads dates according to the date format of the region. Since the month will not exceed 12, Power BI will recognize that 14 and 15 are dates rather than months. However, for 9 and 12, Power BI will automatically read the data according to the date format of your region. If the format of your region is month, day, and year, Power BI will read the date according to the month, day, and year, and then display it according to the "yyyy mmm dd" you set. Zenisekd 's method is to force Power Query to read data in the day, month, and year format. If you can use Power Query, you can try the method proposed by zenisekd. I hope it will work for you.
