Waterfall Breakdown logic
Hi all,
I tried searching for an answer to my issue, but couldn't find it, so apologies if it's already been discussed before.
I would like to create a waterfall chart that shows the change by date, broken down by type. However I am a little bit confused by how PowerBI calculates the changes as it seems that it is different once I add a breakdown.
The first image below shows without the breakdown and the second image shows with the breakdown. The data should only increase with time so there shouldn't be any red bars, so the first chart is what I am expecting.
From my understanding, adding a breakdown means that PBI needs to compare the values of each type at each date. So for example if B does not change but only A does, then it will assume that B has gone to 0? If that's the case, is there any way to tell PBI to "ignore" dates for B when only A has data?
I would really appreicate your help as I'm quite lost on this.

Thanks a lot for your help! So putting Type in "Category" is a lot closer to what I'm looking for. Is there a way to show the total for the selected drilldown level, on top of the ending period total? (so for example Jan-2021 A is 4 and B is 2 then there is a blue bar for Jan-2021 that shows 6).
you can Try Waterfall visual by xViz.. but this feature is paid feature.
