Want to clear 4 basic doubts
Hi all,
As I'm very new to Power BI, please try to answer these questions.
1. Can I change the location of data source file? i.e. If I upload a file from sharepoint folder and as we know, sharepoint takes the link of whole folder and displays whole list of file and If I go to change the data source, they demand for a new link which I dont have because I changed the location of my source file within the same folder. Please try to ans this.
2. Can I change the name of source file or the folder in which the file is stored? If yes, how?
3. Can I add a new header/ column in data source file? Will It be directly identified by PBIX file or will I need to import the file again?
4. Can I change the name of header in source file? I tried to do it but new header name is not identified in PBIX File. What should we do in this case?
I hope to receive replies ASAP.

Answers to your questions are as follows:
1. Please try to ans this. - Yes you can modify the datasource of your source in Power BI. In your case if you have modified the sharepoint existing file within same folder, then go to your sharepoint location online where this file is. Copy the path of file and modify it in power bi. 2. Can I change the name of source file or the folder in which the file is stored? If yes, how? Yes you can change it in your cloud sharepoint location. Then follow the similar steps in above blog to modify in Power BI advanced editor.
3. Can I add a new header/ column in data source file? Will It be directly identified by PBIX file or will I need to import the file again? yes if you add new columns in the existing dataset, they are by default shown in Power BI until they are removed in Power Query Editor after the data is loaded in Power BI.
4. Can I change the name of header in source file? I tried to do it but new header name is not identified in PBIX File. What should we do in this case? If you change the header name in your source file then you will have to navigate to the initial step in Power Query editor to check. Because Power BI has got everything built using your old header names like CHNAGE TYPE step. So you will have to modify this step in Power Query editor along with any other step that uses the column that has now been renamed to new column.

Thank you for replying but nothing is working for me.
If I talk about the first thing, i.e. Change the location. In the link It is shown that we can do so my browsing the new data source but as you can see in the image, I cannot see any browse option and also the URL mentioned will remain the same in my case as the location is changed within this URL. So I dont what to do.

What do you mean by location is chnaged within this URL?
Is there additional folder within this location that has your file? If yes then you will need to add that new folder in this url.
And the second thing i.e. to change the folder or file name, I found that It can be done by changing it in the function bar which is displayed by clicking on source option of the power query editor window but for me, I cannot see that place to change the name. There is nothing displayed for me. Even If in the power query editor window, I click on the table name and then advanced editor, and change the file name there, still It is not working for me.
