Hello
In the PowerBi Desktop version I'm currently using (2.96.901.0 64-bit - august 2021) I encountered a nasty issue.
If I previously grouped some objects under a common tag in the Selection pane, each time I use the Undo command, even for matters unrelated to objects grouping, the groups get disassembled (i.e. objects get ungrouped) in ALL pages; the ungrouped objects are then listed (and most importantly, layered) in a semi-random fashion.
These not only makes working with object groups impossible but it also create big difficulties when using bookmarks to hide/unhide partially overlapping objects; having them grouped make designing and maintening bookmarks much easier.
Am I missing something or is it just a bug? Has this problem already been solved in a later PowerBi Desktop version? In that case I can ask my organization to update it.
Thank You for your help
Max
I have found the cause of this issue/glitch.
Simply go to Options & Settings then Current File's Report Settings, just enable "Use the Modern visual header with updated styling options".
This will prevent from ungrouping objects if undo is used.
I am using September 2022 version and I have the same problem. It is absolutely impossible to manage issues and very time-consuming. I hope they fix this ASAP. By the way, another related issue happens when you have some groups created for the bookmark and you duplicate the tab. All the groups get separated and you have to re-group everything again. It's really annoying because I haven't found any workaround. Is there any official update about it or fixed with a new version of PowerBI? This is absolutely urgent if you need to work with Groups and Bookmarks. And also using the undo command also destroys al the groups.
Hi @sdrumovic ,
That's a quite old version.
Power BI Desktop is updated and released on a monthly basis, incorporating customer feedback and new features. Only the most recent version of Power BI Desktop is supported; customers who contact support for Power BI Desktop will be asked to upgrade to the most recent version.
Best Regards,
Jay
I had my PowerBi Desktop updated to version 2.105.923.0 64-bit (may 2022) but the problem persists: each time I use the undo command, the groups I created in the selection panel get disrupted
