Visualize dependencies between events - IT Changes & IT Incidents

Hi all,

I'm facing a long lasting challenge in my IT organization to visualize the dependencies between  IT Changes and IT Incidents.

I was wondering if I could find some good tools in Power BI for that.

I basically have 2 tables...

The incidents with information like

  • Incident ID
  • Date & Time
  • Affected application

The changes with information like:

  • Change ID
  • Date & Time
  • Affected application

I would like to visualize the links between both entities typically showing the incidents that affected an application during the e.g. 30 minutes after that a change was made on this application.

Any idea about how to do that ?

Hi, @turbofred69

Please correct me if I wrongly understood your point.

I am not sure whether I created my sample correctly or not, but one thing I can think of is the below picture, and the link down below(sample pbix file).

It describes the trend per each application (A,B,C,D), how many incidents are counted, and how many changes are counted by 30minute-time-trend.

If it is OK with you, please share your sample file, then I can try to come up with more relevant ideas and visualizations

Thanks Jihwan Kim for your proposal.

I see it as a possible workaround. The challenge is that it will lead to a very long report as the number of applications is high.

I had in mind a graphic as below

The links should be established based on the commonality of affected applications, time correlation and possible explicit reference to the change in the incident description (text field of the incident).
