Visualizations not displaying
I've fixed it.
excelmjr - by any chance do you have Dreamweaver installed? Or another app associated with CSS files? Or a virtualised app using App-V or SCCM?
Try this:
Open regedit.exe
Look under HKEY_USERS - you should see your user hive which will look something like HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-xx-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx
...directly underneath that, there should be a key with the same name, but it will have _Classes appended to it. i.e.:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-xx-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx_Classes
Expand that, and look for a folder called ' .css '
...delete it.
PowerBI should now work.
As always when modifying the registry, you should take a backup first. You can export the key by selecting it then right-click then 'Export'.
That is great. However, with my system I do not have those programs installed. The only place where there is a .css file under HotKey_Users is .DEFAULT/Software/Microsoft/VisualStudio/10.0_Config/Languagues/File Extensions/.css
I do NOT think that you are suggesting I delete that.
It is great that you got it fixed. Hopefully, this will lead the people helping me to a solution.

Hi,
I had the same issue this morning and I tried to delete the whole .css key and that didn't work, but then I just readded the entries and values Paul had for .css above with 'empty' OpenWithProguids and PersistentHandler sub keys and that worked for me.

I see what you are talking about, but I do not have a .css folder.

I think we are making progress. I am seeing "white background" first before going away.
- But deleting just that line.
- Still had the same problem.
- Rebooted, Still had the same problem.
- Deleted the folder.

I see dreamweaver.exe in lots of places. Maybe one of those is a problem?

excelmjr you could try finding a .css file (or make one in Notepad) - right click on it -> Properties then try changing the app that it is associated with - it's probably associated with Dreamweaver - change it to Notepad or something and see what happens.
You shouldn't need to reboot.
Edit - oops - just saw your reply - glad it's working!

paulf excelmjr Great debugging there :) !
In general I think ensuring ContentType is "text/css" for all .css Registry Keys would mitigate this issue. We are still trying to make a fix such that we are intelligent about this such that users don't need to deal with this. Somehow the registry settings seem to be affecting our web browser control and we recently made some changes there which exposed this issue. - akjana10 years agoPower BI Team
We have a fix that doesn't require the user to change registry keys. I'll reply back to the thread once the fix is released

mauricepowerbi, if you have all the windows update, can you send a frown so that we can get in touch with you to debug the issue easily? I think we resolved the registry key issue however there may be something different about your environment.

I'm still having this problem. With cefsharp.browsersubprocess and visualization.
I've installed the latest update, and still remains.
This fix you talk about, can you send it to me, please?
Thanks!!
